Kids birthday

Cavyn and Nycolette just celebrated their 2nd and 4th birthdays. It was so much fun! We had their birthday party on the 16th and it was cowboy cowgirl themed. Christie, Melissa, and I spent most of the day before making all the decorations for the party. We had a jail for the kids to play in, signs, a general store, wanted photo booth, and so much more. It was such a great party. We got a jumping castle for the kids in the backyard which still I swear is the best thing for a kids party. All of our close friends and family came and the kids had a blast.
The next morning was Nycolette's birthday and she got to unwrap all her gifts from mommy and daddy and bobo. We had a special breakfast and Jay came over to play. I took the kids to the park and they got to play with all their new toys all day. Chris got home early enough for us to have a family dinner and we went to our neighbors for cupcakes and football. It was the best 2nd birthday we could ask for.
Cavyn then got to celebrate his birthday at school on Tuesday where he brought cupcakes. All the teachers and kids raved about the cupcakes that I didn't make:) They sang him happy birthday and he got a special hat and seat at school. On Wednesday was his real birthday he opened his gift from Nycolette and played with it with daddy and Nyco all morning while I went to bible study. When I got home we showed him his four wheeler which he was so excited about. We packed up all our stuff and took him to the track near my parents house. We spent about three to four hours at the track having the best family time. My dad came by and even took Cavyn on a ride which if you know my dad that is crazy. it was his second time on a four wheeler and first time driving. It was a memory in its own. Afterward my dad took us to noodles for dinner and we were so tired by the end. We drove home and tucked our not so little babies in bed.
Our birthday week was great. I am so excited and blessed to have two little people with such great personalities.

Memories

Today while driving home from dropping my nephew off I was thinking of my grandpa. The kids were sleeping in their car seats and the radio was playing a song about memories. It made me tear up thinking how I would never hear his sweet voice again, that next time I saw my grandma he would look at her like they were still newlyweds. I miss holding his warm grandpa hands, or hearing his funny stories. But then I was thankful for so much about him to. I was thankful I got 25 years with him. I got many kisses, and memories with him. I loved him and he loved me. He got to meet both of my children and though they won't remember him when they get older I can tell them stories of how his eyes lit up when he first saw them or how proud he was of their very existence.
I truth I believe my grandpa was a great man not because he was my grandpa but because he lived a full life. He married, was in the military, worked multiple jobs at a time to support his family, had four amazing children. My grandfather had many friends, many adventures, and memories. He started and supported charities, he believed in God and knew the importances of family. Grandpa cried, laughed, bled, smiled. He was my grandpa and I miss him every single day and hope that when God calls me to his kingdom he will be the one to meet me at the doors.

Summer Fun

Today Cavyn learned to ride his bike without training wheels. This is so exciting!!! I am so proud of my little man. We have been really busy now that I am not working or at least not working at work. The kids schedule is full this summer with Monday story time, Tuesday Gynmastics, Wednesday daddy time, Thursday T-ball, and Saturday swim lessons. I barely have enough time to think. We are having so much fun and I can't believe how much I just love staying home with the kids.

Being Sick

Well the last week both of the kids have been really sick. It started out Sunday night with Cavyn saying his head hurt. By the time he went to bed his head and his back hurt. The next morning when he woke up I could tell he just didn't feel great. He went to grandma's and didn't play much. When we got home after work that day he had a temperature and would just lay on the couch. By bed time he had a temperature of 104 and was miserable.
The next morning he felt a little better but not perfect and Nycolette woke up coughing horribly. I took the day off work and drove them up to Estes to the doctor. Of course their pediatrician retired without telling us so I took them to my doctor. He was amazing with them and they will now see him. Anyways... Nycolette got diagnosed with an ear infection and croup. Cavyn got diagnosed with strep. Well we got their prescriptions filled and Cavyn felt better right away, while Nycolette got worse. Her cough was horrible and she was such a sad baby. By Thursday we called the doctor again because of her cough and got a steroid. This helped amazingly with her cough, but on Friday she was coughing so bad that she couldn't stop crying.
We called the on call doctor and took her to the ER after three hours of crying that evening. They took xrays and gave her an inhaler and ear drops to go along with her antibiotic and steroid. Magic happened after that Nycolette slept for 14 hours the next night and woke up still coughing but not as much and was so much happier. She is now on the path to recovery.

Halloween 2011

We had such a great Halloween weekend! On Friday night we got to go to Aim's Community College for a trick or treat event going on. We went with our neighbors, Jayme and Eric and Bryar, and some other friends Brook and Hayden. It was fun, Cavyn was dressed up as The Cat in the Hat, Nyco and Bryar were thing one and thing two and Hayden was a scuba diver. Afterward we went to Old Chicago's for dinner. It was a lot of fun and I am so grateful to have friends with kids that live close to us. On Saturday the kids and I went to a trick or treat event in Loveland at the mall and it was ok, Jayme, Eric and Bryar came too.
The kids and I were so tired from the last two days that on Sunday we just hung out at home and rested. But again on Monday we got to go trick or treating in our neighborhood with our other neighbors Angie, John, and Jay. It was so much fun and Cavyn would say "trick or treat. Ok next house" We went down two blocks and then went home. Cavyn stayed up an hour later then usual because he was so excited about trick or treating.
That was our Halloween, and as fun as it was we are still recovering and tired.
It snowed again last night and we lost power for two hours. When we woke up this morning and there was 9inches of snow. I got to work from home and Chris had off so after I worked for a while we got to all hang out and play. Luckly the snow is melting already.

Fall 2011

Well we have had a really busy fall this year. I never realized how much there is to do with kids and now that the kids are getting a little bigger especially Cavyn it is so much fun to do fall activities. We went to Miller Farms one saturday morning with daddy before work and had a blast doing all the fun and free activities that the farm offered. We bought two pumpkins there and when we got home the kids painted them and then we put witch eyes, and hat, act on them. It was fun and Nycolette had a blast painting. We also had a last barbq with the neighbors a couple weeks ago where the kids all painted halloween decorations, then we grilled chicken, and all hung out. The men watched football, kids played, and us girls well ate cookies. We have also gone to a lot of farmer markets this farm which Chris and I love. Cavyn has done multiple art activities this fall including painting paper pumpkins with Nycolette to decorate their playroom.
Both kids started their fall activities two weeks ago and they love it. Nyco is doing gymnastics at the Mountain Kids with me on Thursday morning and love everything about it especially clapping when other kids do things. She enjoys the mommy and her time and takes advantage of every moment. Cavyn started amazing athletics which is where they teach him the basics of every ball sport. He does this on Thursdays with daddy when we are at gymnastics. So far he has learned volleyball, football, and hockey (which he already knows). He loves it and talks about it a lot. He comes home and tries to teach me how to do them. He also enjoys daddy time and I think it is great bonding time for the boys. Well that has been our fall so far, we are getting ready for halloween on Monday and the kids have two costumes that they love and can't wait to show them off.

Snow Day

Well today it snowed about 13inches at our house, and about 2 feet in Estes. I didn't have to go to work because of the snow so it was pretty exciting. Cavyn had so much fun with the snow and played outside most of the day taking small breaks to warm up. He also got to go play outside with our neighbors and their little boy so he had fun. Nycolette went outside once to play but we don't have great snow boots for her yet so she couldn't stay out long. She did love it though and ran up and down the driveway throwing her arms up and down. It was great!!!
Chris of course is hunting this week so he missed their first snow of the year:( As of today he still hasn't gotten an elk either:( Other then playing in the snow Cavyn, Nyco, and I made no bake cookies, ate chicken noodle soup, played, played, played, watched the Lion King, and they both took naps sadly not at the same time so I didn't get to nap. It was a great day!
